adidas was started by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in his mother's kitchen after World War I.
Adi, was joined by his brother Rudi in 1924, with the business increasing to 200,000 pairs of shoes a week by the outbreak of World War II. The pair did not get along and in 1948, Rudi left to start the brand Puma.
